' Karly catalogs boasted photos of winning sports team and the records of the participants. Throughout the years, MGC has competed in a variety of sports. From football to track to tennis and golf, MGC has been a force tc be contended with in junior-college sports. MGC was the last junior college in Georgia to drop its football program. In the mid-1950’s, the progam was scrapped because there simply was no competition close by. The remains of the football bleachers are still around the intramural fields. Until the early 1960’s, MGC’s mascot was the Wolverines. At that time mascot was changed to the Warriors. The Hilltopper tree it As I look back on this. past year, I realize that this is not only an ending for me but also a beginning for others. My years at Middle Georgia College have been memorable ones. I have met so many people ™ who have touched my life in such a special way - people who have given of themselves, to : their friends, studies, and our school. ; As well as the students here at MGC, I have come to know and love the special people | who work for the college. Whether it be the administration, faculty, or staff, each person has had a part in my education. | One such person that has meant more to me than he will ever know this year. is Kén’ Joyner, my yearbook advisor. Ken has devoted so much of his time and effort to make our publication work. He has worked late hours, redone work that just was not quite right, and still had time to be a friend to all of the poeple he works with. Thanks, Ken, for everything. : Another such person is George Hinton. Mr. Hinton stays in the background most of the: time, but it’s always certain that he is there overseeing and supporting everything we do. . Thanks a Iot! Special thanks go to my staff, without them my job would have. been ‘close to inpossible: Thanks Renae, Karen, Lou, Kerry, Brenda, Jerell, Bill, Rhonda and Ratricia for helping x me to make this the best book ever. With the closing of this book comes the closing of a hundred years of. tradition, but 1 feel certain that THE TRADITION WILL LIVE ON.
