The Warriors finished the regular season 13-15 on the year and 7-13 in the conference. That mark was Rogers’ second losing season at Middle Georgia College. Rogers called the season “disappointing.” He attributed most of the season’s problems to inexperience and the youth of his squad. Only three of his 1982-83 squad members wore Warrior red in the previous season. — The Warriors were in the cellar position of the GJCAA league for the entire season. But for the entire season, they were nipping at the heels of the leaders. As tournament time rolled around, the Warrior backed into the state playoffs ranked number eight. They drew in the opening round the number-one ranked team in the state — Gainesville. Their first opponent in the tournament a their last opponent for the year. According to Rogers, the team played its all the entire season. Several of the losses were within just a matter of — two or three points. But in the record books, 1982-83 went down as the first losing season in the past IO years for Rogers and only his second at Middle Georgia College. it ROWE Li Fihaee watsenioor rior, War Harris. la Becky Cooley, Keith Brady m Bracewell, and Felish (front) Pa £ inia Martinez, irg V, By L to R) Donna Borah ( Disser, Ilene Webb d, Lor (Standing, Shannon Accor Pn .f} in Q 4 Vpn: ee Marie — Sharon Witcher, Lauruby Latham, Faith Peppers iane Foskey, Williams, D Lynn ie West, Gilda Driggers, (front) Carol Carter, Conn il Smith. ck, L to R) Carla Ray, (Ba Tracey McEntire, oper, and Aver Co (L to R, Front Row) Gene Morgan, John Stewart, Terry Mullis, Kevin Burke, Greg Johnson, Manny Matrana, David Poulos, Sam Dart, (2nd Row) Alex Diaz, Mike Fitzgerald, Ray Stephens, Jim Leyritz, Bruce Evans, Jeff Oyster, Larry Lyons, (Standing) Jalal Razich - Manager, Kevin Brown, Joe Datin, Eric Tutt, Jerry Slagle, Derek Padgett, Shawn Hillegas, Donny Ape eee : and Coach Robert Sapp. The Warriors baseball team had an outstanding regular — season with a 9-3 conference record and 30-7 overall. As usual, the event was well worth the cost of admission - free - and provided a good diversion if you had nothing else to do! Technical problems plagued the event, but that, too, became almost comical before the event was complete. MGC’s resident Emcee, Clark Senn, did his usual superb job hosting such events. His attempt to keep the audience during the technical problems became the hit of the show. Local talent in Jack Gary and Tommy Taylor also provided comical relief during the technical problems.
