Students at Middle Georgia College have a wide range of activities which fill the hours not used and needed for studying. From sockhops to the formal dances the student has many opportunities to enjoy himself. Receptions and teas enhance the social life on campus. Concerts and lectures provide a part of the cultural life stimulated by classroom work. Variety in campus organizations provides the student with a chance to express himself through acting, writing, singing, or serving others. Those who can may play basketball, baseball, tennis or golf on the varsity teams or on intramural teams. Others just enjoy being spectators at these sports events. Of course, however, dating is the number-one activity! 28

Featured at Middle Georgia College in the fall is the annual Homecoming, highlighted by the crown- ing of the Homecoming Queen during the half-time of the basketball game which follows a busy day of decorating dorms for the competition and floats for the afternoon parade. The Miss Hilltopper Contest, sponsored by the annual, is held in December. The girl selected is presented in the school annual as rep- resentative of the ideal college girl. The Miss Fresh- man contest is held in February; talent and beauty are criteria. The May Court and Queen are selected by the student body in the spring to reign over the annual May Day festivities.
