Each year interested people through- out the educational zone donate cars andfor cattle to the MANC Autumn Auction. Many of these same donors come to the auction and bid on the donated items. Excitement fills the air as great enthusiasm fills the bidders. A tradition of a presidential calf was started several years ago. This was the calf that was donated by our President, Dr. Curtis Smith. As each bidder wins their bid they redonate the calf for this process to happen many times over, until a large sum of money has been raised. This year the presidential calf was a buffalo. The process of bidding, winning and redonating happened several times for our buffalo friend. He was the object of the largest bid at the auction. Cars were bidded on by sealed bid with most cars having a base price on the bid it would sell for. This was a new aspect and not as many cars were donated as cattle. Bidders not only gave money to MANC for scholarships, but also came away with a good deal on either cattle or a car. 62
