Elmer Bud Harbin p Director of Athletics Why I Teach? Ibegan teaching and continue to teach because I believe it to be God's will for my life. Why I teach Physical Education? it I've always been interested in sports and in keeping as physically tit as possible. I believe very definitely if our bodies aren't healthy and strong, we cannot do ourjobs adequately. Just as it is important to keep our cars tuned and running properly, it is even more important to keep our body's tit. So my desire is to get students to realize the importance of this and to understand best how it can be done. I believe everyone is built to handle so much body weight, and when through overeating or apathy, this weight is evceeded to a great extent, his physical heart is overburdened. Muscles have to be exercised to function as they should. Finally, I believe if we are strong and healthy, our spiritual life pros- pers. We are less likely to be defeated by the enemy if our fortress is prop- erly maintained. Why I teach at M.A.N.C.? It is for the same reason I teach. I believe it to be God's will for my life to be here. What are the rewards? Having taught in the public schools of Missouri before coming to M.A.N.C., one very real reward teaching here is the fellowship with other Christian teachers. The greatest reward for me, however, is seeing students learn and especially when they seem to enjoy my classes. I really believe learning should be fun, if at all possible, and I try to teach that way.
