Dr. Paul Hendrickson Assistant Professor Of Physics F or me, teaching Physics at MANC affords an opportunity to interact with students of diverse interest. To aid in discovering how things work, how one idea can explain a variety of problems, and deveolping quantitative explanations is very gratifying. Physics, being the most basic of all sciences, has such a broad scope that it plays an important part in all sciences and engineering fields. Since our everyday lives are affected by tech- nology, we should be aware of the implications of decisions made at various levels in our society. Of course, science is more than simply collecting data or inventing devices. It is an investigation of natural systems in a search for order. To this end, simplicity and logical consistency are of utmost importance. In this regard, I like the state- ment of A.A. Michelson H852-19311 who was the first American to win a Nobel Prize in one of the sciences for his precise measurements of opti- cal quantities. If a poet could at the same time be a phy- sicist, he might convey to others the pleasure, the satisfaction, almost the reverence, which the subject inspires. The aesthetic side of the subject is, l confess, by no means the least attractive to me. Especially is its fascination felt in the branch which deals with light. IQ I feel that the students at MAN C have a unique opportunity to gain an appreciation of God s creation from faculty who are dedicated and who truly care about people. To know God's will and to be professional in their various academic areas is of prime concem to each staff member. Ph.D. University of Oklahoma
