CLASS HISTORY In the year of our Lord nrneteen hundred frfty one mne boys and srx grrls entered Michrgantown hxgh school We chose Wrllram B Reed as sponsor Gene Fausett president Drxre Bosworth vlce president Ray Record secretary and Mrke Wllson treasurer Freshmen actrvmes were scrap and paper drrves We frlled Garry s barn with paper We were really rrch wrth the S7 IO we recerved when we sold xt We had a skating party at the rtnk The followrng were the Freshmen members Drxre Bosworth Robert Caldwell Robert Danrels Howard Crum Gene Fausett B111 Kemmer Ramona Newton Jane Ransopher Ray Record Catherine Reed Judrth Smrth Sharon Storz, Mrke Wilson Garry Yates and Rrchard Zartman In the fall of 1952, Mrs Myers was chosen sponsor Gene Fausett our presrdent Garry Yates vrce pres1dent, and Drxre Bosworth secretary and treasurer Bill Kemmer qurt school Jane Ransopher moved to Western and Sharon Storz moved to Frankfort Eugene Chrlsty started at the f1rst of the year but moved to Western later Jrm Byrd came to Mrchrgantown from Arkansas and Wrlma Lewrs entered the class from Scrrclevrlle Dunng our Sophomore year we sold 2 ooo basketball schedule pencrls and we went to Turkey Run for a class trrp on Sept 20 We also had a combrned bake sale wrth the Senrors We also sold pennants and buttons We had a turkey raffle We enjoyed a swimmrng party Feb 23 at Kokomo Y M C A Mrke Wrlson vrce presrdent Ray Record secretary and Garry Yates our treasurer We lost one student, Rrchard Zartman and garned one student Margre Horne from Flonda Dunng our Junior year we really had more opportumty to make some money for a Senror trrp We served Chill 1n the cafeterra every Frrday noon The sale of magazlne subscrrptrons and Christmas cards and wrapprngs helped to bulld up our class fund Our class had the concessions at all home basketball games and at the County tourney We had a Christmas Party at Howard Crum s We gave our play One rn a Mllhon March I8 and 19th and had a swrmmxng party Aprrl I7Ih In the fall of 54 we came back for our frnal year under the sponsorshrp of Mrs Myers Ray Record was our president Bob Caldwell vxce presrdent Mrke Wnlson secretary and Garry Yates our treasurer Margre Home moved to New Orleans Freshman Inrtiation was held at the Communxty Hall Sept I7 We had a Chrrstmas party at Ramona s We decrded early :rn the year to publlsh an annual Thrs meant we had to get advertrsements to help pay for rt Wrth the splendrd cooperatron we got from busrness men rn our commumty and rn surroundmg communities we were able to go ahead wrth our plans We gave our class play, Peekaboo Penny Oct I9 and 20 May 6 was set for ourCommencement somethrng we were lookxng forward to wrth a Sllghl feelrng of regret Our class tnp to Washington New York and Nragara Falls was somethmg else we were anncipatrng but not with regret Now we are the alumni of the class of 55 and we shall always cherish our memories of the years rn M H S ' . . - , . . . . .
