DEDICATION M' 1: ff tw Bessie Stough is retiring. A Math professor of long standing, since her arrival at this institution, in the spring of 1947 fthe first year of Tech's existenceb, probably no instructor has more endeared herself or has had a greater following than Bessie Stough. Those who have been fortunate enough to have had her in class have not only learned the mechanics of mathematics, but have understood them, also . This is a mark of competence . 1963 marks the termination of a brilliant teaching career, a career that has carried with it, the reminiscences of the early years at Sault Branch Speaking of her retirement, she says, lt is with heartfelt sorrow that I must finally break my ties with Tech . . . but, I guess it's time l did other things . Sixteen years is a long time . And during that time, Bessie Stough has become as much a part of Tech as the campus itself. This is why the Obelisk has been dedicated to Mrs. Stough, not only in our name, but in the name of all Techmen, past and present, who have come to appreciate her as much as we have . We will miss her. 6
