As i- rctary of Michigan State College and of the State Hoard of Agricniture his duties are many and varied, hut his position may best be classified as business manager of the institution, which involves the care of all property belonging to the college and the disposition of the budgets under the State Board of Agriculture. J. A. ScHEFERs came to M. S. C. in 190; and served in the capacity of cashier until elected treasurer by the State Board of Agriculture in 1922. All State Board incomes are received and disbursed through his ofTice in addition to many trust funds. He has always been closely connected with the boarding clubs at the college and is a material help to the student body. Page Twenty-seven

The members are elected from the state at large tor a period of six years, two being elected each odd year.
