Graduation may not seem to be a very unusual accomplishment today, but it is still not too common an achievement. Many of your classmates have been left along the scholastic wayside. If you please, one final lecture. I would like to call to your at- tention two particular responsibilities. The first concerns your debt to the schools of this community. The citizens of Miamisburg have provided you with what you could al- most certainly not have had on your own-a long, expensive education. We ask in return your active support for our schools in future years so that the students coming after you will have at least as good an edu- cation as you have received. The second concerns the future of our nation. You and I have been sadly surprised by what our government officials have done and failed to do in the last few years. We are now tasting the benefits of blind faith in what appears to have been blind leadership. The public must take a share of the blame too, for government officials are servants who cannot refuse to be obedient to a public that knows and cares about what happens. I hope all of you will be a part of a knowing and caring public. It has been a pleasant task working with you, class of '53. You are the group with which I began my teaching career five years ago, and an indelible impression has been left by your friendliness, cooper- ation, and sincerity. These I have appreciated and attempted to return. I wish all of you the greatest success in whatever direction life may lead you. This year at Miamisburg High School has been unusual because we have had a student teacher for the first time. He was Mr. Harold Kline of German- town. He had been working on his degree from Miami University. While here, he helped in the science and mathematics departments. His work was appreciated by all the students. Mr. Kline came to Miamisburg in September of '52 and left on January I6 of '53 to accept a position in the Emerson School in Dayton. Following him is Barnhart's men, Buckeye Kimmel and his lucky ten. Wilburn and Forrest are throwing lead While Jesse James and her Maidens make bread The castle is dark as the cavalry rides by, Colson, Deppner, and Coulter ride high. Farmer Holtzman can be seen afar, Followed by Lake in Miss Wade's car. A light is seen. lt's Cherie, the queen! I And upon the throne sits Holzen, the king! Down to the dungeon goes Mitman, the knight, To rescue a Pearl , a gem glowing wh-ite. Chased toithe kitchen is Townsend, the' cook By Adali Stalder, some pastries to hook. Winnie and Clarice are maids of the queen, While lazy Teegarden on his trumpet must lean. The maids are a flutter. lt's Romeo Shade, And the guard, Justice, is cleaning his blade. Back to the battle the scene is flashed! Shields, Lawson and Sch-enck are mashed. Bravard, David Stamm and Dalton wait Gary, the Gab , who's late for the date. Meadows and Gibson, Clyde and Terry Are making the enemy commit Hari Kari. Near the battle we hear a wail. Don Rose is rescuing his sea Schell. Now the king's men win of course, And Fooler Fowler rides Tex's horse. 1 Let's give three cheers! The battle is won! Let's all go back to the castle for fun! IV B Entertainment! lt's Shorty the Minstrel Man, With Beverly Muter leading the band, The king's floor show starring Bubbles Fox, With assistants King and Janet Cox. A few of the singers next we see- Cook, Lightcap, and Rankin make three. Jugglers are next on the agenda today. Red head Virginia and Germantown play. There's Long who's tall, Simmons who's tallest. Martin who's small, but Mary Lou Smallest. 70 SAGA THE MEDIEVAL MARCH V The feast is prepared, mountains piled high, As Spencer dashes to catch a green fly. The wine is poured, the candles lit, And Adams and Quigley test their wit. Toadvine and Rogers have taken their vows, Now Evie and Anne are in a pow wow. Jo Ann Wade sits quiet in her seat, While Schultz and Gaiser continue to eat. Lang, George, and Nancy Zink sit together, As Cox and Pelfly discuss the weather. VI A visitor, the moon, beams on the party, And looks for Hamilton who is tardy. Now the music lowers and fades, Yawning are Dolores and Barbara, the maids. Michaels, the dishwasher, is busily busy While Lipps is staggering-just dizzy. Ashcraft and Farquer are leaving the feast And Tommy Lyon's snoring will cease. Thompson and Roger Stamm are bidding good-by While Gastineau and Egan exchange a sigh. VII Notorious Nan is singing the last song, As Burns, a good kid, is doing no wrong. The sky is dark as Mabel goes, And Big Dick Herman is wiggling his toes. Leis, Harris, and Mygatt, all three, Make ready to go for a swim in the seo. Eva Mae and Sharon sit on the sand, Puls and Lowden will doze if they can. Malott and Crone are twisted in kinks, While Riggs catches a short forty winks. Vlll Amy and Mary share a carriage, As Harting, a preacher, performs a marriage. The gates of the castle come a part, Ramey rides through in a little red cart. And now the candles are silently blown, The sound of chimes are heard-merry tone! Leaving school's life, galloping slow, Entering Iife's school, and away we go. Now we find no' longer a riot, We all have left, the castle is quiet. 7l Theme ............. Tltle Page A.............,... Dedlcatlon lBud Slmmonsl .........,. .....,...
