Chronicle of Success The class of 1948 started its Freshman year out with Don Butler as president, Jim Abbott, vice president, and Norma Batson, secretary and treasurer. They were represented in Student Council by Roselyn Harris, Fred Guenther, and Don Butler, and were capably guided by Miss Carr, and Mrs. Manuel. Their theatrical presentation ofthe year was ln May With June, a one act comedy. The next step toward success igraduationl was their Sophomore year. Their ofticers were Don Butler, president, Dale Kuhn, vice president, and Jim Abbott, secretary and treasurer. Their Student Council members were Roselyn Harris, Fred Guenther, and Don Butler. The sponsors of the year were Miss Conner and Miss Detling.,xThe class Thespians capably produced The Pampered Dar- ling another one act comedy, and the Sophomore boys who sparked the basketball team were Don Butler, Ronnie Cole, Tim Herman, Don Heil, Ernie Kuhn, Dick Coblentz, Lowell Gebhart, Jim Abbott, and Maurice Smalley. Their Junior year was another step forward. They chose this year to lead them, Jim Abbott, pres- ident, Orval Cummins, vice president, and Betty Staubus, secretary and treasurer. They elected to Student Council, Roselyn Harris, Betty Sprague, Jim Abbott, and Fred Guenther, and were spons- ored by Miss Rae, Miss Wieser, and Mr. Sheets. This was probably the busiest year of their high school career, since they put on a -three act comedy entitled The Mad March Heirs, ordered their rings, and announcements, sold pencils, and various articles to procure money for the Junior-Senior reception which was a great success. , Athletically they were represented in Football by Dick Coblentz, Jim -Abbott, Doug Barton, Tim Herman, George Gephart, Jim Thielman, Ralph Leis, Don Butler, Tick Kohr, Ray Cluxton, Don Clere, Rox Roberson, Dale Kuhn, Lowell Lucas, Joe Berger, Ronnie Cole, Don Heil, Fred Guenther. Dick Bierley and George Lawrence were the student managers. They were represented in the State Finals of the Prince ot Peace Declamation Contest by Frank Starkey. Now they are on their last step of their long climb upward and about to enter a world full of strife. They elected as class officers for their last year, Jim Abbott, president, Wayne Hurley, vice president, Shirley Case, secretary, and Fred Guenther as treasurer. Student Council members were Tim Herman, Roselyn Harris, Norma Stahl, and Jim Abbott. They were assisted through their last year by Miss Wieser, Mr. Heistand, and Mr. Roeh m. The outstanding events ofthe year were a three act comedy entitled Strictly Formal. The other events were Junior-Senior Reception, Baccalaureate, the Prom, Class Night, Senior Picnic and at last Commencement. Now that they have arrived at the top of the stairs, they will enter many ditterent fields. To each one of them, we sincerely wish success and happiness 'for the years to come.
