FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY Speaking of history, little did Columbus realize back in 1492 when he embarked on the great unknown seas that 437 years later, 107 rather green seekers after knowledge would embark on the great seas of learning by entering the Miamisburg High School. Here they were to seek knowledge and attempt to ascertain among other things whether or not their grandmothers were monkeys, Cevolutionarily speakingj. Well, anyway, here we were and here we stayed much to the joy of the upper classmen who needed someone over whom to exercise their authority. They recognized our ability in the line of athletics, when the following received letters after defeating the majority of their op- lllf, ponents: Parramore, Kinderdine, VVolphers, Kuhn, Dimatteo, Whitesel. I7 Mr. Millard helped the class fame by coaching them in a truly success- XB 'Xl ful cage season. ' . fd' AW. Our next noticeable achievement was our Literary Program. We ,,f,:e,.,'i i., entertained the public with a play, debate and other miscellaneous features. The big event of our year was the Freshie Party. Heeter's M5 Orchestra was the dancers' delight while ping pong was played by those ' W who did not dance. F. B. and V. S. YI' - ix HN i i X 30 . r X 7 X - - f wig. ,L 'Q if mx! . .Mtn F ,WZ 5 . Ll i 1 THE MIRUS - Among the thirty-five athletes to don their gridiron 'togs last fall were nine letter men forming the nucleus around which Coach Wright built a successful team. Earnestly Coach Wright drilled the meager material available to develop a winning team. Many moves and changes were made before he was satisfied. After a poor start, losing to Middletown and Roosevelt on succes- sive week-ends, each by a lone touchdown, wfhich was in itself enough to break the moral of any team, his efforts were rewarded in a 33 to 6 victory over Franklin. Troy was the first Miami Valley League team to face Miamisburg and they defeated the locals 13 to O. Xenia was met on the following Saturday and a 25 to 0 defeat was administered to them. The third trip away from home took the Wrightmen to Sidney where they found themselves well matched and the aggressive Sidney squad held them to a 7 to 7 dead-lock. A jaunt north brought Miamisburg to Piqua, another League foe, the fourth to be encountered in a row. Piqua was primed for the con- flict and the Blue and White was subdued 47 to 0. Oakwood furnished opposition for the next game and in a well played game was beaten 14 to 7. yy pn. Greenville was next on the schedule, the last League battle to be S Hill fought. The game was played at Greenville and the teams were evenly ' matched. Miamisburg finally won 7 to 0 to uphold the standard that fy' W' no Miamisburg team could go down to defeat before a Greenville team. R. In the final game of the season Fairview came, saw, and went home W!? X conquered, by a 13 to 6 score in a Thanksgiving day game made unin- teresting by much fumbling due to the extreme cold. 1' ' THQ' I X N 'H X 'ww X' - .. ' K. , 'A .4f?-Z...-l:-
