30 A new semester: new endurance at the book stores. ONE OF THE CROWD pushing and being pushed and waiting patiently each in his turn. Pre-register, register, add a course, drop a course, see the professor, department Chairman, advisor, dean, wait, wait in line. A new semester began and for two weeks solid books were bought and sold and replaced and returned and students moved not moving at all because the bookstores averaged V2 square inch air space per capita. Lines moved slowly through the semester and student number 963420 moved with student number 436587, ID in hand, toward the counters, cashing checks and paying bills and receiving grades and eating meals and being a part of the whole but still a part which without the whole would be no part at all. This was a mass called Miami. Dorsey Hall girls wait their turn at East Diningmom.

You were part of the whole and with the whole you moved. Tired and lugging a clumsy bag of heavy textbooks you flowed back down Slant Walk, getting your first im- pressions of Miami of Ohio.
