phase number two sooner or later, everybody realizes there is no substitute for good health. without it, all endeavor is proportionately harder, all ioy that much less satisfying. in the hub-bub of academic activity, miami has not lost sight of health's importance. spacious athletic fields invite students to outdoor sports and the intercollegiate teams to practice sessions. vvithrovv court and herron hall abound vvith facilities for recreation and competition indoors. freshmen and sophomores attend physical education classes, learning many sports and technical methods of attaining bodily fitness. among men, an extensive intramural program offers competitive oppor- tunities the year-round to those not inclined tovvard varsity athletics. men on varsity squads receive the most concentrated conditioning of all, and the consistent success of miami teams illustrates the thoroughness of her methods and facilities. for a student to progress normally, his body must keep pace in keenness with his mind. miami has amply insured this to her students. .- .
