iiglilliglltits Aircraft Mechanics trainees. whose field is service, go to the airport almost daily to do maintenance work on the fleet of airplanes owned by the school system. A real highlight in the day's work for these boys is a trip to the scene of a crash to observe thc wrecked plane for weaknesses that caused its failure. The present Aircraft Mechanics shop was started in June, 1942. At the time of its origin, the school trained war production workers: in 1943 the first high school classes were started. Since the end of the war much military surplus equipment. in the form of airplanes and tools, has been acquired. At present the course is CAA approved and many graduates have been placed with leading airlines. The aircraft mechanics shop is one of five shops in the aircraft group, and together these shops make up one of the finest train- ing units of its type in the United States. X s, is SJ Q .
