Blood, sweat, and tears- but self-expression. Whatever you do, kids, be yourself. Whether in drama, speech, music, art, or publication work, pupils experienced success and failure. Shouts and whirling psychedelic posters. Distorted sights and sounds. Part of being in focus with the time. Zap. Not so fast. Ideas took shape with the help of renovation. For journalism, it was the purchase of a foil-stamping machine. Music lovers found pianos available for use. Debate Club beckoned speech students. Art pupils' designs benefited from the purchases of, an etching press, enameling kiln, grinder, leather buffer, and jewelry finisher. Through a Valentine's Day carnation sale, Thespians earned money to buy stage scenes for Bad Seed. Ding Dong-the witch may be dead, but creative arts marches on and on and on and .... 4 if i ,'l. F 4,4 fl ,L i the still of the library, Mrs. Nancy Swinney types on her typewriter amid ie quiet books. The library retained its motto Shhhhhhhh! the entire year. Libra ry-A.V. Shh. Bang. Shh. Quiet--. Movement here and there. Around one-third of the school population used the library daily. All the comforts of home, too. Silence. Relaxation. A new lounge area and artistic interior decoration sparked additional interest. Supreme sacrifice-giving up study hall for the library. During regular hours, student volunteers helped collect fines, locate references, and shellac the thousand new books. A dozen mechanically- minded boys assisted Mr. W. P. Collins in handling the audio visual equipment. Popcorn, anyone? Librarians became nightowls, keeping the stacks open Monday-Thursday evenings from 7 'till 9. Yawn. il' i i ., i J. Batchellor B.
