Track Made up mainly of underclassmen, the track team had a season of hard competition and a mediocre year in the win column. Top-notch cindermen on the team were: Tom Andrews, who ran both the high and low hurdles, Clay Boynton, pole vaulterg and Scott Stewart, who ran in the relays and running broad jump. Underclassmen who showed great promise as they gained experience include: sophomore John Hice, and juniors Steve Hecht and Donald Fife. Besides regular dual track meets against neigh- boring high schools, the Panthers competed in the Miami High Relays, Ft. Lauderdale Relays, and the state meet held in northern Florida. Baseball Team spirit was the feature that kept the Panthers winning, and every win was a squad effort. The majority of the team were sophomores, and they added to the over-all hustle and desire of the base- ball team. Coach Robert Lewis lost only a handful of players from last year to make the 1969 Panther baseball team rich in returning lettermen. Heading the list of returnees were the seven seniors on the team. Richard Curtis, Dan Smiley and Mark Ghezzi, out- standing outfielders, backed up basemen Scott Has- kins and Larry Brutton. 4 A A 'lit M. Junior Alan Polofsky pitches a fast curve ball against Coral Park, striking th batter out. This led to a 3-1 victory.
