Gabriel, R. Miller, J. Feuer. Varsity Wrestling Defeating Miami Edison by the score of 37 to 10, the Palmetto Grapplers ended their most successful season with 14 wins against one loss. Their only loss was to the defending state champs Norland High. During the Greater Miami Athletic Conference, the undefeated Andy Burge finished first in the 115 pound division. Bobby Roberts C95 lb.J and Mike Anderson C154 lb.J finished third in the same con- ference. Other outstanding wrestlers included: Eddie Becker C103 lb.J, Steve Ellis C149 lb.J, Jack Har- baugh C168 lb.j, and Frank Crawford C178 lb.J. Coach Barry Zimbler and team captain, Frank Crawford, entered the team in the Greater Miami Athletic Conference and placed fourth. They also attended the Gold Coast State Meet which ended Crawford, having been on the varsity wrestling team for the past 2 shows his wrestling agility as he drives his opponent fora pin. the season. Track Made up mainly of underclassmen, the track team had a season of hard competition and a mediocre year in the win column. Top-notch cindermen on the team were: Tom Andrews, who ran both the high and low hurdles, Clay Boynton, pole vaulterg and Scott Stewart, who ran in the relays and running broad jump. Underclassmen who showed great promise as they gained experience include: sophomore John Hice, and juniors Steve Hecht and Donald Fife. Besides regular dual track meets against neigh- boring high schools, the Panthers competed in the Miami High Relays, Ft. Lauderdale Relays, and the state meet held in northern Florida.
