law Swimming Consisting of members of the All-American team, the Palmetto swim team had a successful year. The Panthers attended the Woodson Invitational in Ft. Lauderdale and the South Eastern Regional in At- MU lanta, Georgia, besides competing in local meets. They swam against Miami Springs High School for the dual championship. The Girls' Water Polo Team took third place in the nation and the boys' team took first place in the state. ' Candy Calendar, Dale Atkinson, and Marcia Pope were All Americans and Robert Buck broke the school record in both the 200 yard Free Style and 200 yard Butterfly. Outstanding polo players were Robin Malt- by and Marcia Pope. Coach Seegers in his 5th year in coaching the swim team added an additional coach, Tom Wheeler, who held the national record in the Butterfly. coach Errol Seegers checks the time of one of the members of swimming team at their practice pool located at Boys' Town of S. J V Wrestling Under the direction of Coach Dennis Bennet, the newly formed junior varsity wrestlers Cconsisting of sophomores and juniorsj had a successful season, winning seven and losing three. Some outstanding grapplers that will aid the varsity squad next year include: Ron Gunby C95 lb.J and Charles Brookfield in the Heavyweight Division. Stuart Harris C138 lb.J had a record of five wins and one loss while Mike Taylor C175 lb.J had a record of six wins and zero losses. Wins were over such schools as Coral City C34- 18J, Coral Park Q31-147, and Norland C35-133. To end the season, JV squad shut-out Edison 34 to O. Mini-wrestler Doug Bull and maxi-wrestler Charlie Brookfield show off muscles as well as might for the wrestling team. wrestling 189
