Phi Beta Chi Fixes the Lab Aquarium As a chapter of the Future Scientists of America, members Watched films con- cerning advanced fields of science and listened to guest speakers from research areasg sponsors Mrs. Earsie DelChamps and Mr. Harry Cherry advised Science Honor Society students in selecting some local technical companies for demonstra- tions. Throughout the year, President Henry Mannheimer led club members as they fixed the school's aquarium and built a telescope. For membership, students wrote a scientific research paper and maintained a 3.5 average in all science classes. Phi Beta Chi inducted new mem- bers in the spring. President ........ N S Works at Kendall Home Siestas were not permitted in the SNHS. Work highlighting the year in- cluded collecting food at Christmas for some needy families, aiding Spanish- speaking children to understand Ameri- can customs, and working at the Kendall home. Spanish National Honor Society proj- ects involved cooperation with com- munity agencies while helping members to develop a fluency and comprehension in Spanish. Spanish students in at least their third year of study having a 3.6 average in Spanish and a 3.0 over all scholastic average joined the club in January. Under the supervision of Mrs. J une Kundtz and Mrs. Joan Lueras, members enjoyed Spanish films and guest speakers at meet- ings. Climaxing the end of the year, the an- nual banquet honored graduating seniors. Speakers touched upon what SNHS mem- bers needed to expect when entering col- lege and careers. President ..... . .
