Office Staff Coordinates School Life Because a school must be managed with great eiliciency, 14 workers served to link the administration, teachers and students together. Working behind the scenes- answering questions, receiving phone calls, keeping tiles up-to-date, handling any and all unexpected situations-the oilice staff saw that everyday school events ran smoothly. Staff members continued to act as the nerve center of the school as they helped complete high school transcripts and com- piled the daily bulletin that kept students informed about school. A. hird period Physical Education class finds enjoyment as well as exercise in an invigorating game of volleyball. Physical Education Adds Obstacle Course In conjunction with an age stressing the maintenance of body fitness, the Physical QQ Education Department broadened its aims ' 7 and added a new obstacle course and iso- metric setup to its equipment. To promote student understanding of curriculum, in- structors revamped the Physical Educa- tion Manual. Extensively-phased classes enforced the idea of the inseparability of the body and mind. Girls, Leadership classes placed an emphasis on individual skills, pupil lesson planning, and otliciatingg other students engaged in modern dance, golf, badminton, gymnastics, hockey, softball, and bowling. Activities offered to the boys included football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, and volleyball. Countywide in- tramural programs helped improve coor- dination and agility, Driver Education taught students how to maneuver cars with precaution. Fo make student life more enjoyable, the cafeteria assistants prepare cake servings to add finishing touch to menu. i Lealizing the importance of healthy eating habits, Mr. John Davis es students follow certain procedures when leaving cafeteria. Service Dept. Joins Catering Program Working morning to night, a cafeteria staff of 30 prepared and served over 1500 well-balanced plate lunches to hungry students daily. This concentrated effort proved helpful as cafeteria members also worked to supply one elementary school with nutritious meals. To insure high standards in this operation, the cafeteria workers initiated a new manner of serv- ing lunches. As a special function, the ladies prepared food for club banquets. Performing additional useful duties around-the-clock, a maintenance crew of 15 did the thousands of tedious tasks which kept the school in tip-top shape. Hard-working custodians kept the grounds clean and repaired necessary machinery. In addition to keeping the school immaculate, maintenance staff members operated as a facet of the Ser- vice Department and added to the student body's comfort by working at extracur- ricular functions. 47
