Taylor Guidance Plots Students, Careers To assure the welfare and well-being of the individual students in each of his classes and activities, the Guidance De- partment established grade-level coun- selors. Department members, available during the day to have conferences with pupils and parents, discussed the progress and accomplishments of the individual student. Looking to the future, counselors tried to get students involved with vocational plans and arranged conferences with col- lege representatives, administered and interpreted scholastic tests, secured jobs for students after graduation, and aided students in wirming college scholarships. Expands By 2,000 Books To continue with Research Center expan- sion, three librarians spent 315,960 on books, adding over 2,000 new volumes. Included in the 17,246 books contained within the library were the Encyclopedia of Philosophy and the Great Ages of Man. Renovation of the library complex con- tinued with the installation of a timeclock to check in and out the almost 1,000 students who visit the library daily. Another facet of the library area, the A.V. Center, served the students and faculty with a large assortment of equip- ment. Modernized materials available for use were a remote control switchboard in the auditorium and sets of individual earphones for nine record players and twelve tape recorders. l 29
