At the opening of the 1968 basketball season, the team won three straight games, losing by only five points to high- ly rated Miami Beach. Senior forward Paul Teichert and junior center Fred Briggs led scoring throughout the season. Victories included wins over Killian, South Dade and Columbus. The round- ballers split with Coral Gables winning the first game by one point and losing the second by the score of 84-62. The Panthers had a tough time against highly rated Key West, Jackson, and Miami High. During the season, the Panthers had two winning streaks-5 and 3 games. Spurring on the team were the jiving juniors: Randy Adair, Tim Murray, and Fred Briggs. Fred Briggs was named player of the week twice by the Miami Herald. Combining hard work and team spirit, Panthers ended the season with 14 wins and 10 losses.
