Quill and croll Excells at Journalism Members of Quill and Scroll discussed new ideas and methods for publications at the Florida Scholastic Press Associ- ation District Convention at Coral Gables. Led by sponsor Mrs. Miriam Taksier, the club also attended the FSPA State Convention on Miami Beach, late in April. Quill and Scroll, journalism honorary, recognized juniors and seniors serving on either the Palm Echo or Panther staff for their excellence in the journalism art. Students meet to increase their understanding of the Romans LH Presents Roman Skits Under the direction of Mr. Ivan Davis, the Latin National Honor Society mem- bers tutored students in Latin translation, declamation and dictation. LNHS created student interest in ancient Rome through the study of lan- guage. Skits in which members put on togas also helped to promote an under- standing of the Roman style of life. Thespians sold carnations on Valentine's Day to earn money for scenery and props. Led by President Val Greenfield, honor society members participated in the yearly Drama Festival at the University of Miami's Ring Theater. Required for membership were ten Thespian points. One point equals ten hours of work earned by students appear- ing in school plays, local productions, and in children's plays. Seven of the ten points must be attained within the school.
