Miami enjoyed a great sports season, bringing home many trophies. The varsity football team pulled a division title out of the middle of a three team race. The city championship game, held on a cold, rainy, night, was an event that few Indians will forget. Down, 6-0, Miami came charging back to tie it up, 6-6. The extra-point attempt was converted but was wiped out because of a penalty. The second try was unsuccessful. Northwood went on to win, 12-6. The reserves, were an incredible team that had given up only six points in two years. Unfortunately they were upset in the championship, 24-0. Meanwhile, the seventh grade compiled a 1 -2 record. The cross-country teams dominated the city. The ninth grade brought home the city crown, a feat that was duplicated by the seventh and eighth grade. The city championship was also won in wrestling. The Indians collected a fantastic total of 1 09 points. Hard times hit the seventh grade basketball team as they failed to reach .500. Nevertheless, the season had its bright points, including a 44-22 victory over Franklin. The eighth grade split 1 games, winning 5 and loosing 5. Despite a valiant effort, they were knocked out of the tourney by Geyer. The varsity basketball team finished with a 6-4 record, but in the tournament they had an upset victory over Geyer, 50-42. Another victory over Kekionga in the tournament gave them an excellent chance at capturing the city title. CRXyoc country FRONT ROW: l-r. M. Garriot, P. Acker, J. Hey, M. Thompson, S. Jimmerson, B.
