To kick off fhe l97Il72 year. seniors acfed as four-guides fo freshmen af orienfafion. They poinfed ouf favorife classrooms, feachers. lounging areas, and gave a few fips on how fo survive fhe four long years. Before fhe second six weeks began, fhe l97I foofball season was under way wifh ifs pep rallies fo loosen fension and sfadium bleachers fo scream and sfomp on. Wifh fhe excifemenf of The firsf game. seniors knew 'rhe remaining season would be greaf. Each week a new and fhrilling game was played under brighl' lighfs amidsf colorful shakers. Bofh shiffs mef. shoufed, laughed. and cried fogefh- er over vicfories and losses. Even fo fhe soff-hearfed and oldrfashioned, foofball was a fhing of beaufy and fradifion. lf was fun fo dress in sneakers and ieans fo pile in a friend's car and drive fo fhe sfa- dium amidsf bumper fo bumper fraffic. Then, everybody would chip in nickels and dimes fo pay for parking: only fo ar- rive affer kick-off. Bu? scrounging was well worfh fhe exfra efforf. Touchdowns and half-fime performances made up for losf fime. With final seconds remaining, vicfory cheers SCREAMED. The nighf ouf was only half over. Dressed in grub cloThes wiTh guiTars in hand, seniors cuddled To- gefher on a renTed Truck amid The sTraw To sing Tolksongs and Toss sTraw aT one anoTher. AT The close oT The week, The ioinT eTTorT oT The Senior Board and ln- Terclub Council assembled The second annual bonTire pep rally. The smell oT pine Trees, candy canes, and holly placed seniors in a holiday mood. To liven up spiriT. sTudenTs hung bells. misTleToe. and ornamenTs on Trees and Chanukah bushes in TavoriTe class- rooms. The Teeling oT warmTh and Trien- dliness radiaTed on everyone's Tace. Even Teachers assisTed in Taping up TwisT- ed red and green sTre-amers, paper snow Tlakes, and elves. Bob SisTik, Key Club vice-presidenT, oTTered his sTurdy, TrusTy knee as SanTa Claus, and Tried To re- member speciTic orders. Over The vacaTion, Campus LiTe's YouTh Tor ChrisT, enioyed a Tive-day Trip, via bus, To GaTlinburg, Tennessee. The mounTainous TourisT village was wall To wall sTudenTs Trom The EasTern UniTed STaTes. ExpecTed snow-capped moun- Tains were merely a dream. Rain and cool weaTher prevailed mosT oT The Time, ' buT The weaTher never sTopped exciTe- menT. Many Took up mounTain climbing as a rugged, weT, and dirTy sporT. BuT, knowing ThaT scenic picTures oT purple mounTain Tops, museums. and new Triends were Taken, The Trip became un- TorgeTTable. Senior Board, consisTing oT homeroom presidenTs and concerned seniors, was direcTed by Bob Davis, presidenT: Mike Foreman, vice-presidenT: Lynn RoberTs, secreTary: and Priscilla CanTwell, Treasur- er.
