The graduates of 1951 have contracted a debt with Miami Jackson High School. Certainly they are indebted for the friendships and the good times, but much more than that, they are morally obligated to give life to the P U R E W G knowledge which they have gained hereg to let it grow into the intellectual curiosity and the analytical thinking which the mature mind should possess. These past years have given each senior the foundation for an intelligent mind and a materially successful life. Whatever is built upon that foundation depends upon the ambition, initiative, and the perseverance of each indi- vidual. VVith that thought in mind, the senior class of 1951 must realize the significance of the class motto, So Little Done, So Much To Do.

l Mas. VERNICB MCNEIL was gradu- ated from Potsdam State Normal Teachers College, New York, New York. She majored in the fields of Education and English and later re- ceived her Master's degree from the University of Miami. Mrs. McNeil taught for eighteen years, part of which was at Robert E. Lee Junior High School, Miami, Florida, before coming to Andrew Jackson in 1934. Her retirement after sixteen years as , dean of girls at Miami Jackson con- cludes a successful thirty-four year career as one of this area's outstand- ing school administrators. As NEW FACES coME AND Go, Mrs. Vernice McNeil will long be a precedent for service and devotion to the students and faculty of Miami Jackson High School. It is depressing to think of hfliami Jackson without Mrs. McNeil, yet we who have come within the scope of her in- spiring influence will always remember her magnetic person- ality. So, it is with respect, admiration, and affection that we dedicate this 1951 OLD HICKORY to Mrs. Vernice McNeil.
