X fi , ,x 7 T - - J. - , , . , L . 7 a a 1 - 1940 Grid Season ' The Andrew jackson Generals opened their 1940 football season September 26, with a 46-O win at the expense of the Stuart Bulldogs. Earl Bittaker, Harold Graves, and Spec Lundbloom were outstanding for the Generals. On October 12, the Generals received their first setback at the hands of the pow- erful Miami High Stingarees, 21-7. Earl liittaker, Otto Ackerman, and jim Man- ning were the mainstays of the jackson team. On the night of October 18, the jackson Generals defeated the Lake Worth Trojans 4O to 7. Truman Bryan, Earl Bittaker, and Otto Ackerman led the Generals. In their first game for the little three I.:-ft to right: llarvey tlninforl, bllilllll High: linrl liiltakm-r, Jackson: lh-tl Roberts, Jackson. championship the jackson team defeated a strong Ponce eleven 27-O. Otto Ackermann was the whole show, blocking three punts and scoring two touchdowns. Playing their third game in nine days. the jackson General ran roughshod over a small Dania team on October 25. The en- tire jackson squad saw action in the S9-O encounter. On October 31, the Edison Red Raiders handed the Generals their second defeat of the 1940 season. The Red Raiders who out- weighed the Generals twenty pounds to the man scored four six-pointers to win Zo-O. In a nip and tuck ball game the Miami Beach Typhoons held the powerful Andrew jackson Generals to a scoreless tie. Earl Bittaker was the outstanding player on the field. After being held scoreless for two weeks. the jackson team let loose with all fury to defeat Plant City 33-O. Earl llittaker spark- plugged the Generals. On November 28, the Generals journeyed to Ocala and avenged two former defeats with a 20-6 win over the Ocala Tigers. On December 6, the Generals closed the season with a heartbreaking loss 14-12 to lfort Lauderdale High. This was the last high school game for llrad Little, Ralph lloston. and Stanley llohrer.
