6 0405 R. C. Nichols, Superintendent of the town's educational system, has guided Miami's public schools for two-thirds of their total fifty year span. It is his foresight that has insured a continuous and orderly expansion of buildings and facilities. It is his steady hand upon the reins of leadership that has insured a constant emphasizing of thi scholastic aspects of school life with the solid teaching of the 5-Rs, readingfriting, and 'rithinetic, maia- ing up the foundation of all knowledge imparted. It is his insight that has separated the valueless from the valuable of the new education and it is through his initiative that the vocation and the guidance areas have been strengthened.

CLAUDE DOC KILLION As with all the truly great, 'Doo' gave so unselfishly of himself that his life became a thread of gold woven into the very fabric of our lives. Doc is a tangible part of our school today and will continue to be so long as there are lips to speak and ears to hear. His spirit will be kept alive and passed on to each succeeding generation, for he was as a great and burning light and that light is a precious part of the MHS heritage and must never be allowed to fade away.
