Margaret Wfilson, editor, planning with assistants, Carol Booth and Joanne Oexman, said, In our annual this year, let's not be 'fancy' - just natural. We are simple teenagers - nothing elsef, Joanne answered, Oldsters speak of us teeners as if we were hardly a part of the human racef' Carol quickly said, What's wrong with teenagers? I love being one. I'm enjoying these days spent in old M. H. S. Well, Margaret concluded, let's dedicate our annual to typical teen- agers and preserve the highlights of this glorious year as reminders of our future grownup days. Let's ask each class to select a couple of typical teen- agers. Let's call the 1958 MIAMIAN a book of TYPICAL TEENS.

Greetings to the teenagers of the Miami Schools. It has been my privilege to have been associated with this and the previous genera- tion. If I were asked to define the difference between them, I would be inclined to say that the present generation is superior. It is a privi- lege to be associated and have daily contact with the vigor, enthusiasm and the idealism of youth. Customs change, ways and means change, but youth adjusts to changing times and has the adaptability to profit by ex- periences that the older generation did not have. A school is an institution that is the length and shadow of the in- dividuals who compose it - the stu- dents, the faculty and the community. We believe that in all these phases the Miami schools are fortunate. We hope that school has contributed to helping provide for you a higher degree of citizenship and training for a better way of life. R, C. NICHOLS Superintefzdefzt
