The heart of our school, Stingtown, U.S.A., doesn't lie in its architecture, liowezferg it lies in the end- less activities that take place in it and produce the learning, inspiration, friendships, triumphs, pride in present accomplishments, and determina- tion concerning the future. This is our Dliami Senior High School. -ff'-' fx I xpfr - ' -'Z ' - . 0 -'-. , .' 'Af- 'r-- ' ' 7.- 1 ' ' J,-5 ,Z', '---'. .' 'fwvi 45 -' . I --J. 7-'- N' .' Z - f'1 v1. Mr. Dykes It is seldom that any one individual can win the respect and admiration of so many other people. The students at Miami Senior High School, have such a person . . . Mr. Emory Dykes, Dean ol Boys. XN'hen Nlr. Dykes first came to Miami Senior High School in 1955, he taught both mathematics and science. He also undertook the responsibility of becoming the faculty sponsor ol' the junior Ex- change Club. The year ol 1957 marked a change in the administrative branch of Miami High School. In that year, Mr. Dykes became Dean ol' Boys. In his two years as dean at Miami Senior High School, Mr. Dykes has acted with the knowledge and fairness which have earned him the reputa- tion of being a man who is to be relied upon and trusted. The advice and counselling which he has given has helped to develop young boys into young men. YVe would like to thank you, Mr. Dykes, for all the help which you have given to us. Miss Howard The woman whom every girl quickly meets when she enters Miami High School is Miss Eugenia Howard, Miami Highs Dean of Girls. Miss Howard is by no means a stranger to Miami High. In 1926, when she first came to the school, she taught English and French. She then became director of student activities, a posi- tion which she held for seven years before becom- ing dean. During her years as dean, Miss Howard has helped many Miami High School girls with her ready advice. Miss Howard has shown in her years as dean that no problem, whether it belongs to a bewildered sophomore or a graduating sen- ior, is too small or too large to warrant her counselling. Our sophomore, junior, and senior girls find that her advice is very helpful during their years at Miami High. The graduates find that her advice is something to be valued through- out their lives. For all these things and many more, the girls at Miami Senior High School are very happy and proud to have Miss Eugenia Howard as their Dean of Girls. yi if 5 2- ' '2 i sfizf f I
