Paves The Road The Science Department of Miami Senior High School has been working with an eye toward the future. Its courses have caught the interest of many students who have chosen a career in the scientific world. In answer to the widespread de- mand for men and women trained in physics and chemistry the Science Department has created well-equipped laboratories to offer students the best opportunities to learn through scientific ex- perimentation. For the sophomore, an intensive study of biology or a study of physical science is offered. Biology helps acquaint the student with the human body and with animal and plant life thus giving him a basic understanding of life in general. Physical science is a new course offered for those students who are more interested in physics than biology. One year of high school science is required for graduation from Miami High. Students wishing to acquaint themselves with higher branches of scientific learning will find chemistry and physics an invaluable aid in under- standing our world and its functions. Chemistry. the science dealing with the composition of matter and the changes which it undergoes, is taught in both the junior and senior years.
