English via Television The English Department of Miami Senior High School is keeping well abreast with the latest dea xelopments in the field of education. Teaching by means of telex ision has made its debut at Miami High and has made the task of teaching sophoa more English an easier one. The main goal of the English Department is to instill into its many students the qualities ol good speaking. writing, grammar, and appreciation ol line literature. ks sophomores. students gain ll better perspectixe of grammar, the principles of publie speaking. and parliamentary procedure. XYhen the student becomes a junior, he encounters the phase of English whieh deals with composition and the appreciation for some of the great ,Xnu-ri' cyan literary compositions. For seniors wishing to further their education beyond high sehool. the college preparatory course is very valuable. lfot' the student of superior ability. a special college preparatory tourse is offered and includes the reading and analysis of some of the world's great books such as I-lomer's Iliad and flflytsey. For the senior student intent on broadening his xfotalm- lary, a course dealing expressly with the study ol words is offered.
