Duncan who, after several years of devoted service to lidison, succeeded Nlr. Robert A. XVilson this year as principal. .Xctive in many departments and activities, hir. Dun- can first served as a teacher in the social studies depart- ment. After that, he was the instructor for the initial driver training class at school. Sports were also included in his busy schedule. lle was an assistant football coach and coached the track teams, too. XVhcn Mr. Parnell entered the armed ser- vices in l943, Nlr. Duncan took over the duties of athletic director and head coach. Uncle Sam needed his services too, so, in l9-H, he entered the Navy. 'l'oday, he holds the rank of Lieuten- ant Connnander in the Naval Reserve. Upon returning to lidison, he became business mana- ger of the athletics department. .Xfter this, he was dean of boys until last spring, when he accepted the position of principal at North Nliaini Iunior Iligh, which he held until niidsummer. Now, he has come home to lidison and his many friends to serve in the capacity of principal. .X familiar sight within these halls was Nlr. Duncan heading toward the llerald room to commend the edi- torial staff on their work, or hiking out to the athletic field to congratulate the teams on their victories, or to boost their morales if they had lost. Yes, we point with just pride to our new principal, Xlr. Vtlilliani Duncan, for representing thc character and ideals synonymous with lidisonl Mr. Duncan Head Administration 4123
