Cooperative education gives opportunity to work and study at the same tim By Aimee Espinosa Through the Cooperative Education program at Coral Park, students who felt they could learn more efficiently in the working world were given the op- portunity to work and study at the same time. These students attended academic classes during the day, and received on-the-job training afterward. The various work programs at our school offer students a great opportunity to enter the world of work and to continue their education at the same time, stated Mr. John Bow, DCT teacher. Whether they enter the competitive world of finance and work after graduation or decide to further their education by going to college, these students will always have these vital skills and knowledge accessible to them for a successful career or rewarding profession. Media and activities specialists aid pupils with unique learning experiences By Maria E. Cardenas ln the media center our goal is to provide the best services possible for every student, com- mented Mrs. Ferry, head librarian. During the winter holiday season, the media specialists held their an- nual trim-a-tree contest in which homerooms made small books to decorate the library Christmas tree. During the months of December and January, the library held a read-a-thon to raise funds for the March of Dimes. Through a variety of services to the student body, the media specialists have proven to be irreplaceable. The activities office serves as a student informa- tion center, in addition to sponsoring Halloween Happenings in October, Homecoming Week in November, Spirit Week, and a multitude of other functions. Activities help students gain experience in the development of leadership and respon- sibility, remarked Miss Eads, activities director. Mrs. Edith Miester smiles after looking up a word in the dictionary in the school library. Activities Director Jackie Eads and Marlene Braga work together in the activities office preparing the homecoming decorations. Activities E3 Media Specialists
