Spanish Honor Club' tutors students studying language By Teresa Mykytka Spanish Honor Society strives to help those stu- dents who need strengthening in any particular area by tutoring after school, stated Lissette Alvarez, president of Spanish Honor Society. Members worked diligently tutoring daily after school in an ef- fort to aid those students who faced difficulties in the Spanish language. Aside from tutoring, mem- bers held fund raising activities in an effort to in- crease their treasury, manned a booth in Halloween Happenings, and sold Giftables in December. One of their bigger projects included a toy drive for orphaned children. Being in Spanish Honor Society has proven to be a very rewarding experience. l've enjoyed the people, the places, but most of all, l've enjoyed speaking the language, Fue un ano muy divertidol stated member Paula Schwartzman. Council helped bridge gap between students, teachers Student Council consists of a group of students in the school who are interested in the schools govemment. Under the direction of Miss Eads, they worked hard during the school year for the students and our school. Student Council serves as a bridge between the students and teachers, commented president Bill Tedesco. Many activities were conducted throughout the year. The Student Council supported many of our football games. For the Southwest game, they con- ducted the Purple Feather Contest. They also spon- sored the traditional Homecoming Dance on November 14th, followed by the Homecoming parade on the 20th of November. ln the earlier por- tion of the year, they had the annual United Way Fund Drive, in which they raised over one-thousand dollars. Activity weeks were sponsored by the Coun- cil throughout the year.
