Social Studies honor holds mock elections for students By: Sotie Vilar Social Studies Honor is designed to promote in- terest in the social sciences through participation in activities in local, state, and national levels. Members were required to have at least one semester of a social studies class with an average of 4.0 in any honors class and a total average of at least 3.0. The mock elections, which consisted of a student candidate that had to have had a campaign manager and also a treasurer, must have raised money inside of school which followed specific guidelines. The mock elections were held four years ago and this year they were held on November 4. The club was made up of students wanting to learn the past and future of the world. Social Studies Honor plans to become a more active club by helping the Young Democrats and Teenage Republicans, commented Ernie Lanza. Science Honor created an enthusiastic atmosphere for its members to help others by tutoring. During March 19 through 29, they assisted students who wished to participate in Science fairs. This club is a lot of fun. lt also looks great on one's record! stated Sergio Akselrad. Together with the help of their sponsor, Mr. Bill Gunn, they helped to break down the difficulties of science to the students. With this help, many stu- dents found science to be an exciting and in- teresting class and a lot easier than they had thought.
