Math Honor members assist students in many math subjects By Ed Rimland Florida Mathematics League tests, the State Mu Alpha Theta convention, and the National Math Test are just but a few of the many activities spon- sored this year by the Math Honor Society. Mr. Frank Caballero, the club's new sponsor, super- vised The Florida Mathematics League tests which were administered to over 100 students each month. Coral Park consistently ranked first place in the county and fourth in the state. ln addition to these competitions, the honor society sponsored free tutoring sessions each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Members assisted students in sub- jects ranging from advanced algebra to general mathematics. We tried to increase the number of projects we sponsor each year so students could gain a greater interest in mathematics, commented Edward Rimland, Math Honor president. Tn-M and new sponsor strive for better discipline By Teresa DeFrancesco This year Modern Music Masters had a new spon- sor, Mr. Edward Gooding, who encouraged the honor society to have better organization and dis- cipline. To be eligible for Tri-M, members needed a 3.6 average in music and a 2.6 average in all sub- ject. Tri-M is a unique honor society because stu- dents apply for membership and then must be ac- cepted. This makes everyone work harder and it adds spirit to the group, commented Vice- president Marti Rosenberg. Tri-M performed at all football games and also performed concerts for neighboring schools. Tri-M is a good honor society to have because it gives music to student and a chance to participate in something other than their regular musical groups , remarked Jenny Penkosky, Tri-M presi- dent.
