To qualify as a member students must have a 3.4 overall average or above and must have leadership, dedication and character, qualities which are essential to being a member. Ana Dopico, president of National Honor stated, N.H.S. does not exist solely for scholastic distinction, it encourages the development of responsibility and character. This past year activities included tutoring at elementary schools, helping out with a Thanksgiv- ing with a food drive and participating in a contest called Brain Brawl. l had a great time this year. l felt it was an honor being with such an intelligent, dedicated, and responsible group, concluded Barbara Centero, N.H.S. district president. Math Honor members assist students in many math subjects By Ed Rimland Florida Mathematics League tests, the State Mu Alpha Theta convention, and the National Math Test are just but a few of the many activities spon- sored this year by the Math Honor Society. Mr. Frank Caballero, the club's new sponsor, super- vised The Florida Mathematics League tests which were administered to over 100 students each month. Coral Park consistently ranked first place in the county and fourth in the state. ln addition to these competitions, the honor society sponsored free tutoring sessions each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Members assisted students in sub- jects ranging from advanced algebra to general mathematics. We tried to increase the number of projects we sponsor each year so students could gain a greater interest in mathematics, commented Edward Rimland, Math Honor president.
