ltalian Honor pioneers in needed study of languages BY ALlClA CORDOVA ltalian is the closest outgrowth of Latin and its im- portance should be emphasized since it is so valuable as a basis for studying other languages. To do this, ltalian Honor members assisted in language programs in the elementary schools with the objec- tive of encouraging students to study many languages. Aside from Halloween Happenings and the Homecoming Parade, they participated with community leaders in encouraging greater funding for foreign language studies. l believe it necessary to pioneer in the study of languages and l intend to put my full efforts in engendering the need in elementary school. ln this way, when a student reaches high school, he will be fully aware of the importance of language to secure better employment, stated Mrs. Joan Cormier, sponsor. ,, J, , g mum Esther Pascual and Eva Hernandez, society members, set up a tape on a recorder at an ltalian Honor meeting. Before the club meeting gets under way, Norbert Milan and Carlos David and other Interact members wait patiently. Interact members proves to be more enthusiastic BY HEIDI MARINO L'Membership increased, and this year's Interact members pro- to be more enthusiastic, exclaimed Raul Arrazcreta, Interact president. Intereact had many fund-raising activities and aided service organizations during the year. Late in October, members helped the Rotary Club by sell- ing plants for Muscular Distrophy. At Thanksgiving, they gave a turkey bakset to a needy family. Before Christmas Interact sponsored a toy drive for needy children. In Feburary they were marshals in the Elizabeth Arden Classic. All the funds from the pro- jects went to sick children. Interact also kept an all-year winning football team. The school year 1980-1981 was one of com- mitment for Interact to service for both the school and the community, stated Ernest Moses, Interact sponsor.
