D.C.T. club members stress learning through experience By Cindy Krischer Diversified Cooperative Training classes were held lst through 3rd periods daily. Students in these classes learned about business and how to go about picking jobs. Emphasis was placed upon learning through experience. Through the DCT program, students were able to gain on-the-job training. Throughout the year DCT students saw filmstrips to enhance their business knowledge. ln Septem- ber, both Mr. Mosso and Mr. Bow's classes went on a field trip to the Dade County Jail House and Court House. Students collected money throughout the year for St. Jude's Research Hospital. They also par- ticipated in a district DCT contest held in late November. Our classes won 3rd place in the com- petition. I was very proud of them, stated Mr. Mosso, one of the club's sponsors. DCT students are members of the Cooperative Education Clubs of Florida and participated in activities for the association. DECA students learn how to cope in the Business World By Teresa Mykytka DECA, the Distributive Education Clubs of America, is a class and club for selected students participating in the work program. Mr. George Long, the sponsor of DECA, worked along with his students to help them make the right work deci- sions and help them learn about advertising. They studied getting along in group related experiences, and other aspects of the business world. DECA was involved in various activities, such as selling candy and going to the Mayfair Shopping Center for the viewing and studying of advertising displays. DECA held breakfast meetings and they met with other DECA clubs throughout the area. Learning combined with fun is what DECA is all about, said senior Mayda Pena. tm l 4 gi li i 40114 , l class.
