For Civinettes year starts off with special olympics By Alicia Cordova Civinettes started off the school year with enthusiasm and spirit by going to the Special Olym- pics. This event was held many times throughout the year in order to give retarded children a chance to compete with one another in athletic events'fThe special Olympics was an experience l'll never forget, stated Maria Avila, a faithful member. Aside from club meetings, jinx doll and poster workshops, and helping the community in general, the club had some major projects. ln May, members had a com- munity picnic with all the citizen advocates. Students collected money throughout the year for St. Jude's Research Hospital. They also par- ticipated in a district DCT contest held in late November.
