C.B.E. business students participate in competitions By: Ana Hemandez C.B.E. is the Cooperative Business Education Program, which is designed to train students and also help them to develop necessary business skills for their future. Students participating in C.B.E. attended school fewer hours than most other students. After leaving school these students went to their jobs, all of which were business oriented. During the past year C.B.E. members were selected to participate in the county typing competition and the state competition in April. By being part of the C.B.E. program l have gained a greated sense of responsibility and ex- perience in the business community, stated Presi- dent, Leonor Robles. The C.B.E. program can offer the opportunity to go out into the business world and see what it is like to have a job you can really enjoy, said Jacqueline Brown, C.B.E. member. Caritas members bring love and warmth to senior citizens By Ana Martinez A nursing home is the last resort for most senior citizens. lt is often a place where the aged and sick retire to when they are considered a burden by a society that will no longer support them. Caritas tries to relieve this sadness by visiting the residents of Palmetto Extended Care Center every Sunday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Caritas members bring love, care and warmth to an environment which would otherwise be void of these qualities. By visiting Palmetto, Caritas members not only shared their time, but also their attention with lonely people. They benefited from the experiences and the stories of the elderly, and in doing so, they reached out to understand the feelings of people who lived in an older, different world, commented President Ana Dopico.
