Girls support athletics by raising money for teams BY ALICIA CORDOVA Batgirls, Cagerettes, Trackettes, Soccerams, and Football Trainers supported the various athletic teams in the school by conducting doughnut sales, car washes, donations, and by selling particular game tickets. The girls raised money to buy uni- forms, equipment, and to pay for the team's ban- quets at the end of the year. The Cagerette squad, led by Captain Cindy Castillo, added a Cager Club. They were required to go to the basketball games and to wear uniforms. The new sponsor, Coach Miller, thought it would be a good idea to have many girls helping the team. Batgirls helped the baseball team by picking up bats and keeping records. Being a Batgirl was truly a fun part of high school, stated Karen Vera, a Batgirl officer.
