Students practice constantly to improve Concert Chorus s By Maria E. Cardenas When hard work, determination, and commit- ment were combined, the result was the concert chorus group. This year, under the direction of Mr. Phil Valente, the choral group participated in several s shows. One performance included their unique in- terpretation of The Twelve Days of Christmas . During the spring, members had their annual concert in which they performed a variety of songs. As for the new choral recruits, Mr. Valente was very pleased with them. We had a lot of excited and talented kids that made it a joy to be a chorus di- rector, commented Mr. Valente. Certainly the talent that exists among the members of the concert chorus group will be an aid for competition and success in the world of music, he concluded. Girls support athletics by raising money for teams BY ALICIA CORDOVA Batgirls, Cagerettes, Trackettes, Soccerams, and Football Trainers supported the various athletic teams in the school by conducting doughnut sales, car washes, donations, and by selling particular game tickets. The girls raised money to buy uni- forms, equipment, and to pay for the team's ban- quets at the end of the year. The Cagerette squad, led by Captain Cindy Castillo, added a Cager Club. They were required to go to the basketball games and to wear uniforms. The new sponsor, Coach Miller, thought it would be a good idea to have many girls helping the team. Batgirls helped the baseball team by picking up bats and keeping records. Being a Batgirl was truly a fun part of high school, stated Karen Vera, a Batgirl officer. Soccerams, Trackettes, and Football Trainers also helped their individual teams and en- couraged them whether they won or lost. xml.: saw' While at a soccer game, Socceram Teresa DeFrancesco cheers for the soccer team to win.
