New Orchestra director gives group added vitality By Aimee Espinosa Under new direction this year, the orchestra stu- dents had a successful year of performance. Ed Gooding, the new director brought spirit and vitality to the orchestra group. Orchestra gives the music student an opportunity to play better music than is nomially played in band, stated Terry Adirim. ln December, the group performed a concert for the Coral Park students featuring their renaissance music and on March 6 S 7 they performed in solos and ensembles at Hialeah Miami Lakes Sr. High School. Most of the recognition has traditionally been given to the marching band, but with a new director and a revitalized spirit, the orchestra students shared the limelight this year at Coral Park, said Terry Adirim. Chamber Singers prepare for a busy year of events By Aimee Espinosa A select group of dedicated students made up the Chamber Singers. Under the guidance of Mr. Philip Valente, the Chamber Singers have had a busy performing schedule this year. On October 21, they performed at F.l.Ll., and in February, at the Renaissance Fair at Viscaya. During the month of May, the Annual Tri-Festival was held. The Coral Park Chamber Singers, together with the Southwest and South Miami students, gave a con- cert which was held at South Miami High School. But along with the thrill of performing came a lot of hard work. Each student gave up much of their time for rehearsals, making costumes and raising money. l've spent more time in this room than in my own house! stated singer and business manager Evelyn Puig.
