Students find places to go, relax after the school day By Ana lnguanzo Students are always finding new places to go and enjoy that makes the weekend something to look forward to, remarked Senior lvie Etkins. Florida's refreshing lifestyle and multitude of ac- tivities helped relieve students from the daily pressures of school. Teenagers in South Florida liked to have fun during their spare time and Florida's environment offered a wide variety of op- portunities. Activities included shopping at Dadeland, dancing and dining, and swimming at the beaches. Roller skating and bike riding, as well as outdoor sports also proved popular during the year. Miami has become a city with a lot of things to do. Because of its international flavor, outdoor sports as well as the night life have become major areas of entertainment for tourists and native Flori- dians, stated Senior Janice Milian. Football player Jose Terry is relaxing by playing pinball at a popular pinball arcade in Westland. a .A gf, df 1 Isabel lnguanzo and lvie Etkins are having a pleasant time eating pizza and talking in lsabel's house. Arleen Lopez and Maria Ramos are watching intently as Coral Park's rams try for victory. The jeans craze started with the advertising tactic that uses famous celebrities wearing designer jeans. l love the fact that rock star Deborah Harry wears my favorite jeans. lt makes me feel special, stated Senior Paula Schwartzman. Concert tee shirts were also a hot item. Students enjoyed wearing Queen, Blondie, or Cheap Trick tee shirts. lt's a great way to show everyone the concerts you've been to, commented Senior Ana Pineda. Concert shirts are a nice reminder of the many concerts l've attended. lt is something you can take with you once it's over, added Junior Jan Weiss. The contest, sponsored by the Arieon staff was won by Sophomore Vivian Quinones, who received a free yearbook. This kind of dress expresses the spirit of American youth in a fun way, she con- cluded.
