Pep Rallies arouse spirit within Coral Park students By Bill Tedesco Pep rallies at Coral Park helped to rouse up spirit in the student body. The cheerleaders, led by Cap tain Niza Nlenendez, got the students going with their enthusiasm. The pep rallies definitely have a positive effect on the students, and are a very necessary part of the athletic program, stated Randi Nlannis, co-captain. The band, led by Virginia Herrero and Jenny Penkosky, played music that really got one's sense of belonging going. On November 20, the final foot ball pep rally was held to commemorate the Homecoming game against Columbus and to honor the senior football players. Representatives from various radio stations were there to award several outstanding seniors. The pep rallies are great. They help put pride and spirit into the students, stated Junior Debbie Brodbar. Sunshine, friends set mood for a beach-bum's weekend By Heidi Marino Being with my close friends and soaking up sun rays is why l like going to the beach, commented Junior Lourdes Llerena. The bright sun, frisbees, friends, and refreshing ocean water were reasons why Coral Park visited Florida's beaches. These at- tractions lured students to the ever popular South Beach, Crandon Park and Haulover during teacher workdays, weekends, and holidays. The season is not important to me. Even if it's the middle of winter or early spring, going to the beach is what l really enjoy doing on my days off from school, said Randi Mannis, a varsity cheerleader. Throughout the school year Coral Park students gathered to go to the beach. lt's definitely one way to escape homework and to relax, stated Senior Susie Alvarez.
