CARDENAS This year's varsity baseball team was led by Bert Pascual, third basemang Eddie Miguelez, pitcherg Angel Gutierrez and Fred Pineda, outfieldersg and Ralph Gali, shortshop, who all played their last year for Coral Park. This season we had strong perfor- mances from our top three pitchers, stated Coach Luis Brande. The pitchers, Eddie Miguelez, Jorge Armas, and Orlando Pena were consistent and pitched well. Although inexperienced, our hitters did produce many timely hits at the plate, he continued. The varsity team ended its season with an impressive record of fifteen wins and nine losses. Experience contributes a lot to the success of the Baseball team BY MARlA E. CARDENAS Led by Coach Luis Brande, the junior var- sity baseball team played exceptionally well throughout the season. i'This year's J.V. team was quite talented. We had some great players who knew what they were doing, stated Coach Brande. The leading players on the team were Catcher Juan Ventura, outfielders Racial Sanchez and Ismael Fernandez, and Pitcher Victor Contreras. lt was tough living up to the reputation of the records of the previous teams, but as a result it made us work harder and play our games with 100 percent effort, commented Victor Contreras. Experience contributed greatly to the success of the baseball team. I felt the at- titude and determination that the team showed throughout the year was the key to our winning season, concluded Coach Brande.
