'Best Cross Country team, ends perfect season at 10-O By: Pierre Dwyer Sports Editor This Cross Country team is the best I've ever coached, said Coach Bob Zell after the boys' cross country team completed their regular season with a perfect 10-O record and a first place ranking in the county. ln accom- plishing their perfect record, the team upset highly rated and undefeated teams like Columbus and Killian. Outstanding runners who headed the team's success were Julio Valdes, Mario Arias, Luis Fonte, and Bemie Brito. The team advanced to the GMAC. Finals October 31 and finished second. Sophomore Julio Valdes finished second with a time of 15:47. The following week, at the district championships, the team eamed a spot in the regionals with a third place finish. However, their season ended when the team missed qualifying for the state cham- pionship by only 11 points. The girls' team, led by Coach Neil Kugler, had a winning record of 7-3. The participa- tion in cross country this year has made us 1 stronger than werve ever beenyfr Said Carol Ada Larrazabal approaches the finish line at the October Osorio, the team's number one runner. 31 Cr.M.A.C.
